Ms. Irene T. Bass is the Executive Director of Monrovia Vocational Training Center, bringing years of dedicated leadership in technical and vocational education across Liberia. Under her visionary guidance, MVTC has grown into one of Liberia's most respected TVET institutions.

A passionate advocate for skills development and youth empowerment, Director Bass has championed partnerships with national and international organizations that have expanded MVTC's reach, improved program quality, and created new opportunities for thousands of Liberian students.

Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC) is one of Liberia's leading Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, dedicated to providing competency-based technical education that equips Liberians with practical skills, innovation, professionalism, and employability to meet labor market demands and contribute to national development.

Located on Somalia Drive, Japanese Freeway, Paynesville, Liberia, the institution provides quality vocational education through competency-based training that prepares students to meet the demands of today's workforce and contribute to Liberia's national development.

We are accredited by the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) and recognized by the Ministry of Education as a premier TVET institution in Liberia.

MVTC Growth Timeline

A timeline of growth, partnership, and commitment to developing skilled professionals for Liberia.

2008

Founding of MVTC

Established in Paynesville with a small set of trade programs, addressing Liberia's post-conflict skills gap and rebuilding the workforce.

2012

Expansion & Accreditation

Received national accreditation from LIPA and expanded program offerings with improved workshop facilities on Somalia Drive.

2016

Strengthening Partnerships

Signed partnership agreements with USAID, GIZ, and the World Bank, enhancing curriculum, tools, and instructor training.

2020

Improved Training Facilities

Upgraded workshops for electrical, welding, auto mechanics, and ICT, and launched a fully equipped computer lab.

2024

Growing Programs & Impact

Expanded to 12 competency-based programs with a 94% graduate employment rate and broke ground on a new training complex.
